Overnight Canoe Trails
A summer breeze rustles through the sedge and reed beds as the warm July sun sinks slowly in the west... not a sound to be heard but for the distant booning of a bittern; as I silently paddle my canoe through backwaters of Hickling Broad...
The Broads National Park has so much beauty to offer and yet so very few of us ever get to see a fraction of it...Why? Because there are vast areas within the Broads that are inaccessible to motor powered boats - because of shallow water, nature reserves or just narrow ‘tucked away channels’. These ‘backwaters’ are havens for wildlife and even in mid summer, when the broads are at their busiest, you can always find a peaceful retreat by Canoe!
Canoeing allows near silent exploration of all, but the most minuscule of the Broads Park waterways.
You can paddle down miles of quiet, undisturbed tributaries, dykes and streams often never seeing another soul but often seeing some of the Broads best kept secrets - the Kingfishers, Bitterns and even the elusive Otter. These secretive and wonderful creatures of the Broads National Park may, very occasionally, be seen from your broads cruiser are far more frequently spotted from a canoe!
To get out Canoeing in the Broads National Park couldn't be easier, there is mile upon mile of beautiful meandering waterways to be explored. TheCanoeMan can take you on a guided adventure, with a fully qualified Canoe Guide, into some of the broads most secret and quiet places. Or if you'd prefer, you can guide yourself, TheCanoeMan will deliver and collect you and your boats, making sure that you are provided with all the equipment necessary to have a wonderful trip exploring the broads. Your guide will show you lots of local wildlife as well as other informing you of other points of interest on route.
