Norfolk Broads Tipi Canoe Trails
The Norfolk Broads Tipi Canoe Trail combines a Canadian canoe expedition with overnight accommodation in tipi lodges located in mainly remote and exclusive riverside settings. This is a unique outdoor adventure experience in the Norfolk Broads and is specifically designed for people wanting a blend of adventure, peace and 'getting back to nature'. Family canoes will also seat 2 adults and 3 children as long as they are in the 36 stone maximum weight limit.
The tipis are located in small private clusters near the river. (Typically only 2-3 tipi's per cluster). Each cluster has a nearby loo, water supply, store of firewood, first aid and fire safety equipment. You will need to bring sleeping bags. The tipis are spread well apart to give privacy for all.
Paddle down one of the most beautiful rivers in the Norfolk Broads in one of our very stable Canadian canoes before finding your own tipi in a most beautiful and peaceful spot. We have Large Family Tipi's which will comfortably sleep up to 7/8 or smaller Tipi's for Couples and small families.
Sample Itinerary - 1, 2 and 3 night trails are also available
First evening - arrive at the site, register - unload your kit into the tipi
First morning - you will be collected from the site by a CanoeMan guide who will drive you to the upper stretched of the Bure and give you a safety briefing, necessary equipment and launch you onto the river. Over the rest of the day you will paddle your way along the beautiful, meandering River Bure back to the tipi. You can then have a relaxed evening around the fire or a short walk to the local hostelry which serves fine food and excellent beer.
Second morning - Taking your kit with you in the watertight barrels supplied you will then take the short walk back to your canoe and continue your paddle through the beautiful Norfolk countryside to your second tipi site. This site once again has easy access to a licensed bar and is within a 5 minute walk of a variety of restaurants, takeaways and pubs.
Third morning - Once again climb back in your canoe and paddle your way towards Wroxham, known as the heart of the Broads, completing your adventure at our shop Norfolk Broads Tourist Information & Activity Centre. You can either finish your trail here or you can continue you journey through the broads with a lot of people opting to finish their journey and spend their last night in the relative comfort of The Moorhen, what is probably one of the best bed and breakfast establishments in Norfolk.
