A small 2 bedroom rental cottage full of rustic charm, located in the centre of the Snowdonia National Park, Wales. Riverbank Cottage is one of a row of traditional longhouse cottages situated on the edge of the small village of Capel Curig in a quiet, secluded spot. The cottage is compact, it is all based on one level, it has two bedrooms, an open plan kitchen / lounge / diner with a modern fitted kitchen and a multifuel stove in an inglenook fireplace in the sitting area. On the doorstep there is a local outdoor shop, along with footpaths galore into the surrounding hills and valleys and a pub serving local fayre 15mins walk. Just down the road is the Welsh National Mountain centre of Plas-y-Brenin (PYB) with its indoor climbing wall, indoor pool, canoeing and kayaking lake, public bar and other facilities (please enquire directly to PYB for access to facilities). This all provides an excellent location for touring, relaxing, hill walking, rock climbing, canoeing/kayaking, mountain biking and other adventurous activities. Arguably the best location, from which to explore Snowdonia.

The cottage itself is a very old welsh slate cottage with thick walls and window seats, it is sympathetically fitted with a galley kitchen (gas hob, electric oven, microwave, fitted fridge, kettle, toaster and fully supplied with all kitchenware etc). It has a cosy living area with feature inglenook fireplace with original quarry tiled floors and a multifuel stove, comfortable seating area, TV / DVD (with selection of around 50 DVD’s) and a selection of games, books and puzzles for all ages. Food locally: There is one pub in the village around 15mins walk (Tyn-y-Coed) and the public bar in Plas-Y-Brenin serves bar meals most evenings (unless they have events on so please check). With Betws-y-coed just a few miles away there is the offer of a wide selection of hotels, bars and restaurants being the largest inland tourist resort in Wales. A lovely circular walk from the cottage can be found following the route from opposite the outdoor shop across the fields, along the ridge and down to the Ty Gwyn cafe which has scrumptious food, lunches and cakes, then return via the riverside path.

Capel Curig is in the heart of Snowdonia's mountains and hills, surrounded by the villages of Betws-y-coed, Beddgelert and Llanberis. Within a short drive are the popular coastal tourist resorts of Conwy, Porthmadog, and Llandudno with their beaches, rich history and tourist attractions. The area is perfect for walkers and climbers with Snowdonia's 14 three thousand foot peaks all within easy reach for enthusiasts, but with plenty of gentler, lower level walks to suit the less energetic.
